HDMI 2.1 Ecosystem Puts High-Performance Gaming into Fall Focus

HDMI Licensing does not have a booth presence at this year’s CEDIA Expo, but of course there will be opportunities to see HDMI 2.1 products on the show floor, Sept. 1-3 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.

In fact, between now and the CES show in January 2022, integrators ought to freshen up on their HDMI 2.1 features and capabilities as the latest solutions hit the market. Attendees to the show will be able to find important devices such as HDMI extenders and switchers

Displays from the Digital CES 2021 have been making their way into availability, and likely will hot holiday wish gifts to pair well with last holiday shopping season’s big Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox console releases.

Between the AV expertise and ability to pull together high-performance systems that can combine 4K and immersive audio with the latest HDMI 2.1 infrastructure and super-fast network speeds, integrators are primed to become gaming customers’ best resources.

Ask Vendors About Their HDMI 2.1 Offerings & Features

“We have many HDMI adopters and resellers there showcasing their latest products, and HDMI 2.1 is the latest specification, it has the most exciting innovative features that integrators will be able to incorporate into their projects,” says Rob Tobias, president & CEO of HDMI Licensing.

“And gaming is the number one highlight this year. We have new consoles, excellent reasons to upgrade home entertainment centers,” Tobias says. He adds that on the PC gaming side, Nvidia and AMD have new graphics cards to up the visual ante as well.

“So dedicated gaming rooms as well are becoming exciting installation opportunities for this crowd,” he adds.

Tobias says CEDIA Expo attendees should ask booth exhibitors about their products as well as their HDMI 2.1 roadmaps heading into 2022. Also, check for the “seal of approval,” if you will, for the certified cables ensuring capabilities are optimized for the latest AV.

“Look for the newest cables, the Ultra High Speed cables that have been certified to work at the HDMI 2.1 8K speeds,” Tobias says. “We have both regular passive cables available as well as active optical cables for long-length and multiroom installations.”
