2022 CE Pro 100 Brand Analysis: Chart-Topping Home Electronics Companies

To say the pandemic has affected the global economy certainly would be an understatement. Unlike many industries, including restaurants and tourism, which were gravely affected, or industries such as commercial real estate, which could be negatively impacted as the world returns to normalcy, the custom installation market has prospered.

Validating this surge of investment in home technology is the annual CE Pro Brand Analysis, which is culled from data provided by members of the CE Pro 100.

That list posted median revenues of $6.56 million in 2021 and 13% growth over 2020, and despite ongoing supply chain issues those integrators could not have achieved such lofty results without the manufacturing and distributor communities.

Over the past few years, the CE Pro 100 Brand Analysis has documented the growth of important custom installation market categories — especially in the pandemic-affected 2020-2021 — that include Home Networking, Lighting Fixtures, Outdoor Audio and Outdoor Video, and Home Theater Processors.

After tracking the market through the onset of COVID-19 and the global cocooning that resulted from the pandemic, to where we stand today with outbreaks still occurring but people largely returning to their normal activities, it will be interesting to see what developments hold for the Brand Analysis.

As society transitions back into some levels of pre-pandemic “normalcy” will the industry maintain the momentum that was built during the pandemic? The custom installation market will also experience first-hand how newer categories such as Indoor Air Quality, Human-Centric Lighting (fixtures and controls) and other wellness-related products fare.

Additionally, as we move forward integrators will find out how much the work from home (WFH)/hybrid work schedules influence the public’s home technology choices and how manufacturers continue to respond to the demand.

Getting back to current Brand Analysis, this year’s list features more than 60 categories, and again this year we’ve given special attention to manufacturers that have experienced sudden or rapid growth with our Bullet Brands designation.
